Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of information and communications technology (ICT) roles who have established specialised skills in a technical ICT function. Graduates in these roles carry out moderately complex tasks in specialist fields, working independently, as part of a team or leading deliverables with others. They may apply their skills across a wide range of industries, business functions and departments, or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor).
Overall students will build strong background in Advanced networking (configuring and managing virtual computing environments, and security within ICT networks) and Cyber security (protecting sensitive data and information through security architecture and developing disaster recovery and contingency plans).

Entry Requirements

1. English language/literacy/numeracy requirements:

International students applying either off-shore or on-shore will require:
  1. either a minimum IELTS test score of 5.5 or 65 score in TOEFL or equivalent; Results older than two years are not acceptable, OR
  2. ii) to provide evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States, OR

2. Academic requirements:

For entry into the Diploma level, both domestic and international students should have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of Australian Year 12 or Certificate IV or higher. However, for students with packaged courses, they should have completed the prior qualifications for entry into this qualification. The entry requirement can be met by evidence of equivalent competency to either of the above through recognition of prior learning (RPL).

3. Age requirements:

International students should normally be 18 years of age or above at the time of their course commencement at the Institute. For under 18 students, they should have acceptable arrangements for their accommodation, support and general welfare for the duration of the student visa or until they turn 18 (whichever happens first) as per the ESOS Act and National Code. In case of domestic students, if the applicant has not completed Year 12 or Certificate IV or higher, the applicant must successfully complete Hamro College’s language and numeracy test, be aged 18 or over and demonstrate through an enrolment interview, either in person or by phone, that they have the skills and ability to succeed in their chosen course.

Course structure:

This course is delivered in 78 weeks in six terms, including 18 weeks of term breaks and holidays. Students will need to complete 20 units (6 core and 14 elective) of competency to attain the qualification.

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving the ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology, candidates may undertake ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology or a range of other qualifications at Bachelors.

Delivery

This course is delivered through face-to-face/classroom and online learning. Delivery of this qualification will combine theory-based material and practical sessions and independent learning, involving small discussion groups, individual and team activities and practical projects.

Throughout the training program participants will be provided with training and resource materials that contain various worksheets, handouts, additional reading materials (where required) and the assessment tasks.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a nationally recognized ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security and Advanced Networking).

Training is delivered in a blended mode including 14 hours face-to-face in the classroom (70%) and 6 hours online learning (30%) weekly with a total of 20 hours per week. Assessment methods include:

Employment opportunities greatly vary for graduates depending on their existing qualifications and experience. The course intends to develop participants’ competency to undertake management or operational roles within an organization for:

Graduates can work as a Trainer and Assessor in RTOs in Australia for the Diploma of Applied Blockchain course with an additional Vocational Education Teaching qualification such as the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.

Graduate with a Tertiary level degree completes the Diploma of Applied Blockchain finds a wide range of employment in the area of applying Blockchain technologies as:

  • Consultancy in the area of business modelling and value creation incorporating Blockchain technologies.
  • Consultancy in the area using Blockchain technologies.
  • Consultancy in the area of transitioning organizational systems to Blockchain technologies.

Delivery

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the course is a blended mode of face-to-face and online participation. Students appear in face-to-face tuition of a minimum of 15 hours within an institution-based environment and online learning of 5 hours per week from the Institute, home or other locations.

Assessments

Blockchain is an emerging technology, and learners will likely either be working in a real “Start-Up” or forming a “Start-Up” organization or project. In both cases, many activities will be in the planning phase as opposed to being operational. Where this is the case, work environments must be ‘simulated’ for assessment. Each unit of competency involves assessment tasks conducted in a range of contexts, for example:

  • Written question and answers: short answer questions, matching/multiple choices questions
  • Practical skills tasks: Research analysis of real-life case studies, portfolios and reports
  • Projects: Planning, modelling and specifying Portfolio (e.g., collection of plans, models, specifications, research findings and reports
  • Roles plays, group work and presentations and third parties’ reports (optional)

Total Course Fee: A$15,000 (A$2,500 per term)
