Description
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with a range of knowledge, skills and, generic and specific competencies to support them in gaining employment in applying Blockchain technologies within an existing or new organisation.

Entry Requirements
English language/literacy/numeracy requirements
International students applying either off-shore or on-shore will require:
- either a minimum IELTS test score of 5.5 or 65 score in TOEFL or equivalent; Results older than two years are not acceptable, or
- to provide evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States
Academic requirements
For entry into the Diploma level, both domestic and international students should have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of Australian Year 12 or Certificate IV or higher.
Student’s experience in research and planning adds much value.
However, for students with packaged courses, they should have completed the prior qualifications for entry into this qualification.
The entry requirement can be met by evidence of equivalent competency to either of the above through recognition of prior learning (RPL).
Age requirement
International students should generally be 18 years of age or above at the time of their course commencement at the Institute. Under 18 students should have acceptable arrangements for their accommodation, support, and general welfare for the student visa duration or until they turn 18 (whichever happens first) as per the ESOS Act and National Code.
In the case of domestic students, if the applicant has not completed Year 12 or Certificate IV or higher, the applicant must meet the requirement of the Institute’s language and numeracy test. The applicant should demonstrate through an enrolment interview, either in person or by phone, that they have the skills and ability to succeed in their chosen course.
Course structure
This course is delivered in 52 weeks in four terms, including 12 weeks of term breaks and holidays. Students will need to complete 8 units of competency (6 core units and 2 elective units) to attain the qualification.
Career prospect and vocational outcome
The course outcomes for graduates will vary greatly depending on existing qualifications and experience. In general, this course is intended to provide participants with the following vocational outcomes:
- Management or operational roles within an organisation implementing new business models that incorporate blockchain technologies to create value, efficiencies and new opportunities.
- Management or operational roles within an organisation implementing disruptive business systems that enable the application of blockchain technologies.
- Management or operational roles within an organisation charged with developing and overseeing blockchain teams.
- Some potential employment opportunities involving the delivery of the Diploma of Applied Blockchain course in Australia may be possible where the graduate also holds a Vocational Education Teaching qualification such as the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
Preferred Pathways to the qualification
- Completion of Tertiary certificate in Certificate IV in Information Technology (ICT40118) or any other relevant qualification/s.
- By demonstrating vocational experience but without format qualification.
Preferred Pathways from the qualification
After achieving the 10849NAT Diploma of Applied Blockchain, candidates may undertake 10747NAT Advanced Diploma of Blockchain or a range of other qualifications at Bachelors.
Delivery
Training is delivered in a blended mode including 14 hours face-to-face in the classroom (70%) and 6 hours online learning (30%) weekly with a total of 20 hours per week.

Undertake 10747NAT Advanced Diploma of Blockchain or equivalent training course.
Graduate with a Tertiary level degree completes the Diploma of Applied Blockchain finds a wide range of employment in the area of applying Blockchain technologies as:
- Consultancy in the area of business modelling and value creation incorporating Blockchain technologies.
- Consultancy in the area using Blockchain technologies.
- Consultancy in the area of transitioning organizational systems to Blockchain technologies.
Delivery
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the course is a blended mode of face-to-face and online participation. Students appear in face-to-face tuition of a minimum of 15 hours within an institution-based environment and online learning of 5 hours per week from the Institute, home or other locations.
Assessments
Blockchain is an emerging technology, and learners will likely either be working in a real “Start-Up” or forming a “Start-Up” organization or project. In both cases, many activities will be in the planning phase as opposed to being operational. Where this is the case, work environments must be ‘simulated’ for assessment. Each unit of competency involves assessment tasks conducted in a range of contexts, for example:
- Written question and answers: short answer questions, matching/multiple choices questions
- Practical skills tasks: Research analysis of real-life case studies, portfolios and reports
- Projects: Planning, modelling and specifying Portfolio (e.g., collection of plans, models, specifications, research findings and reports
- Roles plays, group work and presentations and third parties’ reports (optional)
Course fee
Total course fee: A$15,000
Please note that the course fees may change during a student’s enrolment. At least 30 days of prior notice will be provided to all students when course fees have changed.
Note: It is a requirement that an international student must have a valid health insurance cover for the duration of their visa.
