Description

This qualification reflects professional accounting job roles in financial services and other industries, including tax agents, accounts payable and accounts receivable officers, payroll service providers, and employees performing a range of accounting tasks for organisations in a range of industries. Individuals in these roles apply solutions to a range of often complex problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They apply initiative to plan, coordinate and evaluate their own work and provide guidance to others within defined guidelines.

Entry Requirements

English language/literacy/numeracy requirements

International students applying either off-shore or on-shore will require:

  1. either a minimum IELTS test score of 5.5 or 65 score in TOEFL or equivalent; Results older than two years are not acceptable, or
  2. to provide evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States

Academic requirements

For entry into this qualification, both domestic and international students should have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent. In addition, completion of the following six units, or their equivalent, which constitute the requirements for the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set:

  • FNSACC311 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
  • FNSACC312 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
  • FNSACC408 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry
  • FNSACC416 Set up and operate a computerized accounting system
  • FNSTPB401 Complete business activity and instalment activity statements
  • FNSTPB402 Establish and maintain payroll systems;

 

OR, Completion of FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent; OR Completion of FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent; OR Completion of FNS40217 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent.

Age requirement

International students should generally be 18 years of age or above at the time of their course commencement at the Institute. Under 18 students should have acceptable arrangements for their accommodation, support, and general welfare for the student visa duration or until they turn 18 (whichever happens first) as per the ESOS Act and National Code.

In the case of domestic students, if the applicant has not completed Year 12 or Certificate IV or higher, the applicant must meet the requirement of the Institute’s language and numeracy test. The applicant should demonstrate through an enrolment interview, either in person or by phone, that they have the skills and ability to succeed in their chosen course.

Course structure

This course is delivered in 52 weeks in four terms, including 12 weeks of term breaks and holidays. Students will need to complete 11 units of competency (6 core units and 5 elective units) to attain the qualification.

Pathways to and from the qualification

Preferred pathway to enter this qualification would be Certificate IV in Accounting, or Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, or FNS40217 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping. A learning pathway utilising qualifications such as FNS60217 Advanced Diploma of Accounting would support career progression.

Preferred pathways from the qualification

  • After completing the qualification, participants may seek relevant employment opportunities or any training options.
  • After achieving this qualification candidates may undertake Advanced Diploma level qualification within Finance Services Training Package, or other relevant Training Packages.

Delivery

This course is delivered through face-to-face/classroom and online learning. Delivery of this qualification will combine theory-based material and practical sessions and independent learning, involving small discussion groups, individual and team activities and practical projects.

Throughout the training program participants will be provided with training and resource materials that contain various worksheets, handouts, additional reading materials (where required) and the assessment tasks.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a nationally recognized FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting.

Assessments

Training is delivered in a blended mode including 14 hours face-to-face in the classroom (70%) and 6 hours online learning (30%) weekly with a total of 20 hours per week.

Career prospect and vocational outcome

Employment opportunities greatly vary for graduates depending on their existing qualifications and experience. The course intends to develop participants’ competency to undertake management or operational roles within an organization for:

  • Implementing new business models that incorporate Blockchain technologies to create value, efficiencies and new opportunities.
  • Implementing disruptive business systems that enable the application of Blockchain technologies.
  • Developing and overseeing Blockchain teams.

Graduates can work as a manager, researcher, a consultant with the challenging responsibility of integrating and implementing blockchain technologies in the existing or new organizations

Graduates can work as a Trainer and Assessor in RTOs in Australia for the Diploma of Applied Blockchain course with an additional Vocational Education Teaching qualification such as the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.

Undertake 10747NAT Advanced Diploma of Blockchain or equivalent training course.

Graduate with a Tertiary level degree completes the Diploma of Applied Blockchain finds a wide range of employment in the area of applying Blockchain technologies as:

  • Consultancy in the area of business modelling and value creation incorporating Blockchain technologies.
  • Consultancy in the area using Blockchain technologies.
  • Consultancy in the area of transitioning organizational systems to Blockchain technologies.

Delivery

Due to the COVID-19 situation, the course is a blended mode of face-to-face and online participation. Students appear in face-to-face tuition of a minimum of 15 hours within an institution-based environment and online learning of 5 hours per week from the Institute, home or other locations.

Assessments

Blockchain is an emerging technology, and learners will likely either be working in a real “Start-Up” or forming a “Start-Up” organization or project. In both cases, many activities will be in the planning phase as opposed to being operational. Where this is the case, work environments must be ‘simulated’ for assessment. Each unit of competency involves assessment tasks conducted in a range of contexts, for example:

  • Written question and answers: short answer questions, matching/multiple choices questions
  • Practical skills tasks: Research analysis of real-life case studies, portfolios and reports
  • Projects: Planning, modelling and specifying Portfolio (e.g., collection of plans, models, specifications, research findings and reports
  • Roles plays, group work and presentations and third parties’ reports (optional)

Total course fee: A$10,000 (A$2,500 per term)
